POSITION TITLE
Backend Software Engineer
OVERVIEW:
- ProFocus is searching for a Backend Software Engineer for a contract-to-hire position in Portland, OR. Individuals with a variety of backgrounds and experience levels are encouraged to apply.
- This is ideally a senior level engineer role with great pay and is responsible building the backend foundation for multiple web based customer facing applications. Please email us your resume so we can discuss.

REQUIREMENTS
- Java development experience or strong desire to learn.
- Ability to communicate clearly with technical colleagues, product managers and leadership in order to establish clarity from obscurity and solve problems through collaboration.
- Experience developing in a Test Driven Development (TDD) environment.
- AWS continuous deployment knowledge.
- Authorization to work in the US is a precondition of employment. We do not sponsor work visas.
PREFERRED
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Clojure or other strongly-typed JVM languages.
- Background in functional programming methodology.
- Previous work experience in a distributed environment, diagnosing production issues and security issues.
- Provide a strong portfolio with work samples.
